SLP Reads is Susan Lindgren’s only fundraising event of the year. This fundraiser is extremely successful because families don’t have to sell anything, kids are reading, and the school receives 100% of the proceeds. Students pledge to read as many books as possible in two weeks in return for donations from family, friends and neighbors. The funds raised pay for field trips, technology in the classrooms, Family Fun Night, Imagination and Inventors’ Fair, Student Directories and Yearbooks, June Jamboree and other enrichment activities for the school.
The Susan Lindgren Parent Teacher Organization is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
Per the current tax code, anytime a donor contributes $250 or more (in one sum) to a nonprofit organization, this contribution can only be claimed as a tax deduction by the donor if the receiving nonprofit gives them a tax deductible receipt. In these cases, the PTSO will send out receipts to these individuals indicating the donation amount and EIN. All other donations that are less than $250 are still tax deductible, but do not require a receipt.
